Surgical Technician

This is a 13-week contract position.

Varied 12-hour day/evening shifts; on-call required.

The Surgical Technician assists with surgical procedures by performing scrubbing duties, preparing for procedures, and maintaining sterile supplies. The role involves ensuring a sterile environment and supporting the surgical team effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain a sterile field.
• Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening.
• Anticipate the need for equipment and supplies before the procedure begins.
• Ensure all equipment is functioning before use.
• Scrub all surgical procedures and understand the special needs, techniques, and requirements of the individual surgeon.
• Assist the RN with completion of operative charge and recording of hardware used during the procedure.
• Collect specimens and cultures by verifying source and correct tissue identification with the surgeon.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• High school diploma required.
• One year of experience in an operating room as a Surgical Technician or equivalent Surgical Technician training required.
• Certification or eligibility for certification preferred.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required.
