The Systems Administrator will be responsible for both fielding escalated tickets and looking to improve processes and repetitive tasks with automation.Essential Responsibilities:Help Desk Administration & SupportOversee and participate in Tier 1/2 help desk operations, ensuring timely resolution of end-user issues across a 500–1,000+ user environmentManage ticketing queues, SLAs, and escalation paths; identify recurring issues and drive root-cause fixesAdminister and support end-user computing tools including Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and endpoint management platformsSupport and troubleshoot desktop and remote workstation fleet consisting of Windows and iGel machinesDocument standard operating procedures and knowledge base articles for common issuesScripting & AutomationWrite and maintain NinjaOne RMM and PowerShell scripts to automate account provisioning/deprovisioning, reporting, and routine maintenance tasksDevelop scripts and scheduled tasks to support security hardening initiativesBuild diagnostic and monitoring scripts to proactively identify issues before they become ticketsAutomate software deployment and patching workflows via RMM toolingNetworking (Layer 2 & Wireless)Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot managed switches, including VLANs, trunking, port security, and STP fundamentalsSupport wireless network deployments including access point provisioning, SSID/VLAN mapping, and basic RF troubleshootingAssist with structured cabling, patch panel management, and network closet organizationTroubleshoot Layer 2 connectivity issues impacting end-user devices, VDI sessions, and printersCollaborate with senior network/security staff on firewall rules, DNS, and DHCP as they relate to end-user connectivitySecurity & Systems AdministrationSupport endpoint security tooling from an operational standpoint, including reviewing and triaging alerts relevant to help desk activityAssist with Active Directory hygiene and security best practices under guidance of senior adminsParticipate in patch management and vulnerability remediation effortsExperience/Educational requirements:Required Qualifications3+ years of experience in a systems administration or senior help desk roleSolid working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group PolicyDemonstrated scripting ability in PowerShell or other toolsPractical experience with managed switches and wireless AP deployment/troubleshootingExperience with Microsoft 365 administrationStrong troubleshooting methodology and customer service orientationAbility to document processes clearly and train junior staffPreferred QualificationsExperience with RMM platforms and endpoint security/allowlisting toolsExperience supporting VDI environmentsFamiliarity with network security conceptsExposure to healthcare or other compliance-driven IT environmentsRelevant certificationsTools & TechnologiesActive Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, PowerShell, NinjaOne, SentinelOne, Arctic Wolf, ThreatLocker, Omnissa Horizon VDI, managed switches, enterprise Wi-Fi platformsLocation & ScheduleHamden, CTMonday- Friday vary 8:30am-5:00pmSalary:Starting yearly rate range: $75,000-$82,000, based on experienceWhat we offer:Medical, dental, and vision insuranceCompetitive compensation package, 401(k) contributions, and company-paid life insurance.Generous paid time off and paid holidays to support a healthy work-life balance.Access to training and development opportunities and Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Uniform allowanceFree ParkingConnecticut Orthopaedics (CO) has been serving patients in the greater New Haven area for over 60 years.
