PS Certified Nurse Midwife Job Summary: The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is seeking a full‑time, inpatient Obstetric Advanced Practice Clinician to provide primary and specialty medical services in a University Health Sciences hospital unit. Responsibilities Coordinate inpatient care, consultations/referrals, referring provider follow‑up, and discharges. Collaborate with attendings, residents, nurses, medical students, health care assistants and unlicensed support staff. Work closely with the inpatient healthcare team regarding patient health care plans and treatment. Order, interpret, and evaluate labs and diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient’s clinical problems and care needs. Perform selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence. Initiate and/or recommend medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy. Counsel patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promote health maintenance. Evaluate, plan, implement, and re‑evaluate care of individuals requiring emergency measures. Comply with medical records policies regarding complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiate and maintain required records and legal documents. Participate in quality improvement activities. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Work Environment: Hospital setting, exposed to infectious disease, oils, hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, scaffolding, high places, or chemicals. Physical Requirements: Hearing, listening, talking (nearly continuously). Repetitive hand motion (typing), walking, standing, sitting (often). Bending, reaching overhead (seldom). Minimum Qualifications Current licensure to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife in the State of Utah. Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association, or obtain within one month of hire. Immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Preferred Qualifications Utah State prescriptive privileges. National certification as a Nurse Midwife. 2+ years of experience in a clinical environment. Academic experience, supervision abilities and Spanish‑speaking capabilities welcomed. Exceptional leadership, communication and administrative skills, ability to work independently. Ability to prioritize, be efficient, organized, thorough, and have exceptional time management skills. Experience in education of students and residents as a School of Medicine staff member.
