POSITION OVERVIEW The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services seeks a State Central Register Call Center Worker. Under general supervision, the candidate will provide statewide telephone coverage of a toll‑free number for the reporting of alleged child abuse and neglect. Responsibilities include making highly responsible decisions regarding intake and screening of information received on initial calls, securing all necessary information to accurately diagnose and evaluate reports, and completing initial oral reports and subsequent reports relating to child abuse/neglect or other child welfare services. This role is appropriate for individuals passionate about children and committed to ensuring their safety. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Serve as State Central Register Call Center Worker. Provide telephone counseling or referral services for crisis situations and maintain familiarity with resources statewide for referral purposes. Provide information necessary to ensure that all alleged reports of child abuse/neglect are entered into the computer terminal. Monitor incoming written reports for CPS units. Perform other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. SALARY & BENEFITS Annual Salary Range (effective 7/1/2026): $77,520 – $112,044 per year ($6,460 – $9,337 monthly). Bargaining Unit: RC063 – This position is a union position; provisions of the relevant collective bargaining agreement apply.
