Job Description
Gridiron IT is seeking a Senior Technical Writer responsible for preparing, reviewing, revising, and maintaining technical documentation supporting construction, engineering, and federal contracting projects. Documentation includes installation instructions, system operations and testing procedures, operation and maintenance manuals, training materials, and end-user guides.
The Senior Technical Writer will gather and interpret information from engineering drawings, specifications, technical publications, and consultations with engineers, construction personnel, and subject matter experts. This role will organize complex technical information into clear, accurate documentation for project teams, field personnel, and end users, and coordinate document layout, formatting, and revisions.
The ideal candidate will have experience with federal procurement, including developing and reviewing Statements of Work (SOWs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and related acquisition documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documentation for construction and engineering projects, including installation instructions, operating procedures, equipment manuals, and training materials.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, maintenance requirements, and technical information to develop clear, accurate documentation for field personnel, project teams, and end users.
• Collaborate with engineers, construction managers, and subject matter experts to gather information and verify technical accuracy.
• Develop and review Statements of Work (SOWs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and related federal procurement documentation, clearly defining scope, requirements, deliverables, and acceptance criteria.
• Write and edit technical proposals for federal opportunities, incorporating technical approaches, construction methods, project schedules, staffing plans, and supporting qualifications.
• Review solicitation requirements and coordinate input from project teams to ensure proposals address submission instructions and evaluation criteria.
• Prepare project reports, briefings, and technical presentations for government clients, management, and other stakeholders.
• Manage document development from initial draft through review, approval, and final delivery, maintaining consistent formatting, revision histories, and a current documentation library.
• Lead complex documentation efforts, coordinate contributions across disciplines, and provide senior-level writing and editing oversight.

Qualifications
Required

• Five (5) years of experience as a Technical Writer supporting construction, engineering, infrastructure, or projects of similar scope and complexity.
• Three (3) years of federal contracting experience or similar experience developing procurement documentation and technical proposals.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) additional years of Technical Writer experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
• Experience developing and reviewing Statements of Work (SOWs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and technical proposals.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction specifications, equipment manuals, project schedules, and field procedures.
• Strong writing, editing, organizational, and document coordination skills.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers, construction managers, field personnel, and subject matter experts.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance, if required.

Clearance

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Require ability to obtain a public trust clearance for the DHS.


Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $90,000 - $115,000r (Compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, skills, education, certifications, seniority, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.)
