They are now looking for someone who can help their accounting team in all areas around accounts payable, treasury and month-end support. The organization is led by a Controller and CFO who have come from Fortune 100 or startup organizations and offer a lot in terms of mentoring. They are looking for someone who isn't looking to just check things off a list, but who is excited about continuously learning and growing in their accounting and finance career (this is why the current person in this role was promoted). The role is always evolving and changing. They are always looking for new and better ways to do things whether that's through finding ways to automate things or invest in AI. The role is primarily in office with some occasional flexibility to work from home. What You'll Actually Do: Own accounts payable from the invoice landing on your desk to the payment going out the door. You code it, confirm the approvals are there, run the weekly check, ACH and wire payments, and chase anything outstanding. Almost every dollar here is restricted to something a donor picked, so coding it right is how the organization keeps its promises. Watch the cash. What's coming in, what's going out, what's needed short-term, plus the bank accounts and the wires. This piece used to sit with someone else and got folded into the job, which is what makes it bigger than a standard AP role. Be the person vendors and staff call when they have a payment question, and keep the vendor records and W-9s current as new ones come on. Vendors judge the whole place on how fast they get paid and how easily they get an answer, so this is more relationship than paperwork. Send out the AR invoices. Small job on paper, but it's money coming in the door. Code and reconcile every corporate card charge and expense report. Stay on top of it and month-end close is quick; let it slide and the whole team feels it. Help close the month, pull together what the auditors need once a year, and run the annual 1099 filing. The audit and the 1099s are hard deadlines with real consequences, so this is where the team leans on you being organized. Find the parts of the process that are clunky, suggest automation, and train staff on the billing and expense platforms. They would rather you went and found the better way than kept doing it the slow way. What You Bring: 2+ years in accounts payable or general accounting. An Associate's or Bachelor's in accounting, finance or business administration. Some experience keeping the books straight across multiple entities or departments. Ramp, Bill.com, or similar platform experience is a big plus. If you have used one, you can learn any of them. Strong Excel skills and comfort with automated accounting systems. Solid understanding of 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC filing requirements. Professional on the phone and not afraid to call a vendor to sort something out. You catch the thing that's off before the auditor does. Discreet with sensitive financial information. Where and How Much: Location: Bozeman, MT.
