Adjunct Lecturer in Law - Housing Law and Policy Clinic I

Law 856 Housing Law and Policy Clinic I. USC Gould School of Law is seeking a part-time lecturer to co-teach in the Housing Law and Policy Clinic . This five-unit course supports students in developing valuable lawyering skills, while improving lives and impacting communities through their work. In taking part in the clinic, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the housing crisis— from institutional injustices to economic factors to ethical considerations. The clinic’s legal work will involve representing indigent tenants and working alongside community-based housing organizations on matters spanning representation, strategic litigation, and policy. The Clinic is a year-long course with a prerequisite and accompanying required course titled Housing Law and Policy that begins in the fall semester. The co-teacher would work with the Clinic Director to: teach and supervise students on local housing policy direct service work with low-income tenants oversee policy work participate in the current strategic litigation the Clinic is currently involved with Candidates for this position must have: a JD California Bar experience in working with LA City Council’s Housing & Homelessness Committee experience specific to direct services for low-income RSO tenants drafting demand letters knowledge of local laws that directly impact tenants in the City of LA, including RSO, LA County, Universal Just Cause, AB 1482, habitability law, harassment law including TAHO impact litigation experience local teaching availability (course will be taught on campus) The base salary range for this position is $2,433.66 - $9,984.65 per semester. #J-18808-Ljbffr University of Southern California
