Sous Chef

We are hiring immediately for a full‑time Sous Chef position at Morrison Healthcare in Penn Highlands DuBois (100 Hospital Avenue, Du Bois, PA 15801). The schedule is full‑time with days, hours, and rotating weekends; specific details will be provided during the interview. Applicants must have at least one year of culinary and food‑production experience. Compensation ranges from $18.00 to $23.00 per hour. Job Summary Assist the Executive Chef in preparing and cooking foods, coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, and assume responsibility for the kitchen in the Executive Chef’s absence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards, ensuring all deadlines are met. Supervise hourly food‑service associates (interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, performance reviews, and recommending disciplinary action). Store food in designated areas while following all corporate, state, and federal food‑safety and sanitation procedures. Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures. Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; clean workstations before leaving and keep display equipment free of debris during service. Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service‑oriented manner and relay relevant information to supervisors. Demonstrate complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them to associates and customers. Keep up with peak production and service hours. Monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies, track production, consumption, and waste, and inform supervisors when supplies or product are low. Perform other duties as assigned.
