Serving a region that spans diverse urban, suburban, and rural communities, the CEO will advance the strategic priorities while furthering the Girl Scout mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character. The CEO will lead the council’s mission, strategy, and operations, ensuring excellence in community engagement, fundraising, membership growth, program delivery, and financial management. Working closely with volunteers, community partners, and civic leaders throughout North-Central Alabama, the CEO will strengthen the council’s visibility, sustainability, and reach while inspiring a high-performing team and ensuring that every girl has access to transformative experiences.Reports to: Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama’s Board of DirectorsLocation: Birmingham, AlabamaCANDIDATE PROFILEGSNCA Visibility and ImpactDemonstrates consistent visibility and meaningful engagement across the council’s footprint, embodying an approachable and accessible presence. Ensures a deep understanding of the critical issues impacting girls today in order to advance relevant, high-impact programs and position GSNCA as the premier voice for girls at the local, state, and federal levels. Increases connections by reaching into every area of the council to nurture strategic relationships, increase awareness and access, and ensure growth in volunteer and membership participation. Strategic LeadershipCollaborates with the Board and senior leadership team to identify new opportunities that advance the Girl Scout mission and strengthen GSNCA’s position as the premier leadership development organization for girls in North-Central Alabama. Executes on the strategic plan, monitors and evaluates progress, creates accountability, and ensures transparency in communicating movement. Leverages data and volunteer and girl member insights to shape strategy and expand access to high-quality Girl Scout experiences.3 Fundraising & Financial ManagementIdentifies opportunities to engage and leverage multigenerational supporters, strengthening community connections and diversifying revenue streams to advance the Girl Scout mission. Provides sound financial leadership and stewardship, ensuring resources are managed responsibly in support of the council’s mission and strategic priorities. Oversees budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to maintain the council’s fiscal health and long-term sustainability. Program and Product DevelopmentPartners with lead staff to review programs, camps, products, and membership engagement to determine data-driven strategies to drive growth and impact. Partners with Property Committee to assess the utilization and long-term viability of camp properties, aligning decisions with mission impact and sustainability. Actively seeks girl and volunteer feedback allowing for continued development of both innovative and relevant mission-aligned programs. Ensures programs and experiences remain responsive to the needs of “girls today.” Talent, Culture, & Team DevelopmentCreates a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability where staff feel valued, supported, and connected to mission. Cultivates a culture of engagement, transparency, and accountability that empowers staff to perform and develop. Builds a high-performing team and culture grounded in accountability, open communication, collaboration, and a shared commitment to serving girls. Promotes a culture of ownership and continuous improvement, ensuring staff are empowered to succeed while remaining accountable for results. CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of progressive executive experience with a preference for non-profit leadership. The candidate will have demonstrated success throughout their career collaborating internally and externally with diverse stakeholder groups, including boards, volunteers, corporate leaders. They will be team-oriented, results-driven, and display a vision and passion for the girl enrichment experience, with a proven ability to lead change, address organizational challenges head-on, and build resilience across teams and stakeholders. They should have the ability and excitement to travel throughout the region to build targeted, high-impact relationships and engage in meaningful opportunities.
