The Office of Inspector General is the independent oversight body for Chicago’s approximately 500 public, contract, and charter schools. The Office of Inspector General is charged with the responsibility of investigating allegations of waste, fraud, and financial mismanagement in public education within the jurisdiction of the Chicago Board of Education. The Office's Sexual Allegations Unit (SAU) investigates allegations of sexual misconduct by a CPS-affiliated adult, including employees, contractors, vendors, and charter schools, where the victim is a CPS student and/or a minor. Job Summary: Reporting to the Investigation Support Team Lead, the Intake Specialist will take complaints regarding allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment of CPS students. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that will be paid for time worked on an hourly basis. The Intake Specialist will be held accountable for the following responsibilities: Intake and process new complaints by answering the 833-TELL-CPS Hotline and receiving reports of sexual abuse or harassment via email Follow up with school administration for additional information as needed; complete preliminary follow up with complainants and others as appropriate to gather facts pertaining to allegations of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment of CPS students by staff members Data entry to track and monitor complaints Prepare detailed and accurate reports of activities conducted in each investigation Review surveillance video, emails and phone records, request and review personnel files and past disciplinary records, and engage in other investigatory acts as appropriate Update and maintain case files and case management records in order to report on the status of assigned investigations Closely coordinate with CPS’ Law, Safety and Security, and Title IX Offices, other departments and external agencies to ensure student safety and facilitate the delivery of trauma and/or social-emotional services to students, families and staff Prepare complaints for action by the Inspector General and other supervisors Assist investigative staff in the conduct of criminal, large-scale and complex Investigations Other duties as assigned In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Intake Specialist must possess the following qualifications: Education Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred Experience Required: Minimum of two (2) years of related professional experience in positions requiring strong organization and documentation skills is required Minimum of one (1) year experience in an investigative or compliance environment is preferred Other Requirements: Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated ability to meet short deadlines Proven ability to distill information and concisely report on it to supervisors Refined judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information Skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem-solving techniques, interviewing, and investigation Analytical and critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to analyze information and facilitate the resolution of difficult challenges, including the ability to handle issues of complex and extreme sensitivity Ability to write concise, logical and analytical reports to convey complex issues Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines and work independently while maintaining high levels of organization Interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people, including children, parents, faculty, staff and law enforcement Health & Wellness: Your Care, Your Choice Medical Plan Options Pharmacy Vision Behavioral Health & EAP Employee Wellness Program Financial Security: Planning for Today and Tomorrow Basic Life Insurance Life and Disability Insurance Pension Plans Supplemental Retirement Plans (403(b) and 457(b)) Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) Spot Pet Insurance Work-Life Balance: Supporting Your Personal and Professional Life CPS values the well-being of its employees and offers competitive paid time off policies: As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to: Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
