Registered Nurse Medical Surgical Urology Nephrology

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical - Urology/Nephrology specialty is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to patients in a 25-bed acute care hospital unit. This role includes patient assessment, medication administration, IV therapy, telemetry monitoring, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The nurse will also provide pre/post hemodialysis care and manage respiratory treatments. A minimum of two years of medical/surgical nursing experience is required, with strong skills in emergency response, cardiac monitoring, and genitourinary/renal care. The position supports floating to other medical surgical units and requires excellent communication and clinical skills. Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois.
• Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience.
• BLS certification.
• Proficiency with telemetry remote monitoring and emergency response skills.
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure care.
• IV therapy skills including blood product administration and line management.
• Respiratory care skills including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, and oxygen therapy.
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care techniques.
• Experience with Cerner electronic health records.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in a Magnet or Level I trauma acute care hospital setting.
• Previous charge nurse experience.
• Additional certifications related to specialty care (e.g., nephrology nursing).

Special Considerations:

• Will float to other medical surgical units as needed.
• No on-call requirements.
• Must be able to work every other weekend.
• Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed.
• Parking permit required; parking is free.
• Scrub color is any solid color.
• Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts.

Scheduling:

• Night shift schedule: either 4x12 hour shifts or 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Weekend work every other weekend is required.
• Return to office (RTO) restrictions ideally no more than 5 days.
