Patient Service Representative Radiation Oncology

Job Overview We are looking for a genuine, friendly, and empathetic self-starter to join the team at the Caldwell Cancer Institute as a Patient Service Representative. You will partner with physicians and clinical staff to handle patients’ administrative needs, including checking in patients, collecting co‑pays, answering telephones, taking accurate messages, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance eligibility. Experience with the electronic medical record (EPIC) is required. Responsibilities Check in patients for appointments Collect patient co‑pays Answer telephones and take accurate messages Schedule appointments Check insurance eligibility Use the electronic medical record (EPIC) to update required information Provide superior customer service and independent decision making as required Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred) Previous customer service experience (required) Healthcare experience (preferred) Electronic health record (EHR) experience (a plus) Medical terminology knowledge (preferred) Experience with process improvement or lean philosophy (preferred) Essential Functions Incorporate the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors and decisions Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality and following HIPAA regulations Maintain operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes Additional Duties Acknowledge and greet patients immediately, providing a positive customer service experience Register patients for appointments and complete paperwork Verify and update existing patient and insurance information Keep patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient’s arrival Inform patients immediately of delays, explain why, and provide the anticipated wait time Collect, record, and communicate to patients their responsible balances for visit, diagnostic testing, supplies, etc. Maintain knowledge of different payer practices and deductibles Assist patients with all aspects of financial assistance paperwork Control credit extended to patients via a payment plan Maintain business office inventory and equipment; order supplies Maintain a neat work area, including the reception area Follow cash control policy and procedure; handle balances and daily financial activities Ensure collection of payments at time of service Schedule and Location Full‑time, Monday–Friday, 8:30AM – 5:00PM. Supports a total of 9 providers in Radiation Oncology. Caldwell Cancer Institute is located at 3123 Medical Dr SteB, Caldwell, ID83605.
