Location 1600 West Avenue J,Lancaster, CA, 93534,United States Base Pay $52.67 - $74.30 / Hour Employee Type Regular Required Degree 2 Year Degree Description Job Objective: Under the direction of the Cardiovascular Services Manager and the Neurodiagnostic Section Supervisor, the Neurodiagnostic Technologist shall perform neurodiagnostic procedures in the clinical setting. This applies to both inpatient and outpatient that includes the operating room for the adult, pediatric, and neonate population of patients in accordance with technical standards set forth by the American Society of Neurodiagnostic Technologies (ASET), the American Electroencephalography Society (AEEGS), or the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). The Neurodiagnostic Technologist is required to maintain and improve his/her level of clinical and technical knowledge across all disciplines of the diagnostic neurosciences. Duties and Responsibilities: A. Meets all essential duties regarding the performance and acquisition of neurodiagnostic studies B. Promotes client centered care Provides client and family education Promotes family/patient center care environment C. Facilitates EEG scheduling for inpatient and outpatient needs Prepares patient for study Measure patients' body parts and mark locations where electrodes are to be placed Adjust equipment to optimize viewing of the nervous system Measure visual, auditory, or somatosensory evoked potentials (EPs) to determine responses to stimuli Work with physicians and medical personnel to ensure optimal study attainment Monitor patients during tests or surgeries, using electroencephalographs (EEG), evoked potential (EP) instruments, or video recording equipment Collect and/or summarize technical data to assist physicians to diagnose brain, sleep, or nervous system disorders. Conduct tests to determine cerebral death, the absence of brain activity, or the probability of recovery from a coma. Submit reports to physicians summarizing test results Perform and completes studies in a timely manner E. Intra-Operative Follows recognized technical guidelines in the performance of quality surgical studies Participates in surgical monitoring according to established standards and practices F. Participate in projects, conferences, or technical meetings. Track departmental and physician statistics Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge: Knowledge requirement includes the performance of st udies to include electroencephalography (EEG) required. Polysomnography (PSG), nerve conduction studies (NCS), electromyography (EMG), cortical stimulation mapping (CSM), and intraoperative monitoring (IOM) preferred. Knowledge of EEG EP equipment including c alibrating, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and to correct malfunctions as needed. Skills: Proficiency in identifying artifacts or interferences derived from sources outside of the brain, such as poor electrode contact or patient movement, on electroneurodiagnostic recordings. Abilities: Ability to assist in training technicians or other staff members. Ability to explain testing procedures to patients, answering questions or reassuring patients as needed. Education and Experience: Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent Successful completion of a nationally recognized neurodiagnostic program. Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as an EEG Tech in a clinical setting is preferred including intraoperative experience in Spines, Fusions, Craniotomies, Motor mapping of Intraoperative BAER/VER, Pedicle Screw Stim, with EMG Motor Evoked Potential. Required Licensure and/or Certifications: Registered Electroencephalographic and/or Evoked Potential Technologist (R.EEG.T and/or R.EP.T.) by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) or obtained 12 months following date of hire. Certification in Neurophysiological Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) by the American Board of Registration or Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) preferred.
