Controls Technician

SLB is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Controls Technician Specialist to lead activities within the OneSubsea controls department. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong problem‑solving capabilities, and takes ownership of complex technical operations. This role offers the opportunity to play a critical part in subsea systems delivery, contributing directly to safety, quality, and performance outcomes while mentoring and developing team capability. Roles And Responsibilities Lead and oversee daily controls department activities, ensuring safe and efficient execution of all work. Troubleshoot and diagnose hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical faults in subsea control systems. Coordinate with engineering and project teams to review routings and implement necessary changes. Monitor work progress, track hours versus standard, and report variances to management. Provide technical support for testing activities, including SRT, EFAT, FIT, and pre‑deployment testing. Execute planned and preventative maintenance (PPM) on control equipment (CDU, EDU, CIMV, EFL, STFL, etc.). Train, mentor, and guide technicians to ensure competency development and adherence to standards. Ensure proper completion and close‑out of work orders, including documentation and system updates. Maintain controls, testing facility, and equipment, ensuring readiness and compliance. Collaborate with inventory teams to manage customer property and equipment storage. Support safety initiatives, including HARCs, safety meetings, and compliance activities. Qualifications And Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in offshore oil & gas, subsea operations, or controls‑related work. Strong experience in pressure testing, function testing, and fluid cleanliness practices. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic circuits. Knowledge of subsea control systems, distribution equipment, umbilicals, and HPUs preferred. Familiarity with high‑pressure and high‑voltage environments. Certification or experience operating forklifts, cranes, and aerial lifts is an asset. Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
