Job Description and Duties This position is located at the Los Angeles Investigations Office in Los Angeles. This is a Peace Officer position subject to P.O.S.T. requirements. Performing in a law enforcement capacity, the incumbent; conducts highly confidential and complex criminal investigations pertaining to internal security, employee misconduct, document integrity, public funds, burglary of offices, tampering with official records and systems, and other special cases of a criminal nature; participates as a DMV law enforcement representative in multi-agency criminal investigations, and assignments involving Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Department of Homeland Security, and other law enforcement or allied agencies; provides direct criminal investigative testimony, witness, advisory and services to State and Federal courts, other law enforcement or allied agencies, and DMV legal staff; performs a full range of peace officer duties and responsibilities in the accomplishment of their assignments in accordance with the California Penal Code, section 830.3 such as effecting and assisting in arrests of criminal suspects, issuing misdemeanor and registration violation citations, serves and assists in search warrants; and performs other duties as required. Applicants must pass a background investigation, and psychological and medical examinations in accordance with any State hiring restriction prior to hire. This position will be filled as one year Limited-Term, Full Time if the selected candidate needs to complete the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) requirements. Upon successful completion, the incumbent will be appointed as Permanent, Full Time. If the selected candidate has already met POST requirements through a basic academy, then they will be appointed Permanent, Full Time upon hire. Working Conditions Equipment and work aids used consist of: vehicle police radio, safety equipment, e.g., shotgun, semi-automatic duty weapon, badge, handcuffs, handcuff case, flashlight (heavy duty), soft body armor, ammunition, holster, kubaton, and chemical agents, ASP, battering ram and Haligan tool. Work both indoors and outdoors. Special Requirements The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions. The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired. The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired. The position(s) require(s) Psychological Evaluation clearance prior to being hired. This is a sensitive position and may be subject to substance testing. Selected candidate will be required to participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program. Possession of the Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined that you do not meet the Minimum Qualifications, your name will be removed or withheld from the eligibility list, rendering your eligibility as inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position.
