Seasonal Part Time - SDSU Bookstore Web Store Sales Associate Compensation: Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour Summary: Responsible for the processing of customer orders through Shopaztecs. Works efficiently as a team member, taking initiative to perform tasks, resolve problems and ensure a successful outcome. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Retrieving merchandise and processing orders through a computer to complete the transaction. Packing merchandise into boxes and preparing for shipment. Stocking/restocking inventory and replenishing Bookstore items. Maintaining a clean work area and equipment. Maintaining a positive working relationship with customers, co‑workers and supervisors. Complying with company policies and all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations. Assisting other departments as needed. Performing other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) degree equivalent. At least one year of retail/customer service experience is preferred. Related experience and/or training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Qualifications and Skills Language Skills: Read, write and understand English. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills; ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Reasoning Ability: Apply common-sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Manual Dexterity: Use a computer and office equipment. Physical Demands: Operate computers, stand for prolonged periods, handle and lift up to 35 pounds. Working Conditions and Hazards Work in a traditional office setting and open sales floor workspace. Exposure to airborne particles from boxes, merchandise and textbooks. Moderate noise level. Must be on site; not eligible for remote work. Supplemental Information Candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule including opening, mid‑day, closing, night shifts, weekends and holidays as needed. Background Check Information Background check will be conducted after a conditional offer of employment and must be completed prior to commencement of work. Checks include education, employment, criminal records, national sex offender registry, references, and may include credit report, motor vehicle report, and professional licenses.
