Position Overview:

The Superintendent is the backbone of field operations, responsible for the successful execution of projects through exceptional leadership, organization, and technical expertise. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role goes beyond managing the means and methods of construction it requires being a leader, manager, and educator. The Superintendent ensures projects are built safely, on time, on budget, and in compliance with construction codes and project specifications. This role emphasizes building a team of capable individuals, identifying their strengths, and assigning roles to maximize their potential. The Superintendent must be organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, ensuring effective planning and execution while fostering collaboration and accountability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Team Building and Leadership

• Build and manage a team of foremen, lead persons, electricians, and helpers by identifying their strengths and
  weaknesses.
• Mentor and educate team members, fostering the development of new talent by prioritizing drive and potential over experience.
• Motivate the team while holding them accountable, creating a positive and productive work environment.
• Communicate clearly and effectively to align the team with project goals and expectations.

Project Oversight and Planning

• Oversee the execution of the project in compliance with construction codes, project specifications, and safety standards.
• Plan work ahead to minimize inefficiencies and eliminate the need for daily material orders.
• Develop a miscellaneous material buyout plan at the start of the project to manage procurement efficiently and reduce purchase orders.
• Track and manage labor hours, production, and material usage to ensure budget compliance.
• Collaborate closely with material releases and backorders.
• Maintain accountability for all company tools and equipment, minimizing shrinkage through effective management and oversight.
  Meetings Management
• PM Meetings: Attend weekly check-in project team meetings to review overall progress, milestones, RFIs, submittals, and installation plans.
• Subcontractor Meetings: Attend weekly or monthly subcontractor meetings to ensure alignment on deliverables and scope.
• GC Meetings: Represent the field team in General Contractor (GC) meetings to provide updates on field progress,
  challenges, and solutions.
• Manpower Forecasting Meetings: Attend weekly manpower forecasting meetings to present labor forecasts and the logic behind them.
• WIP Meetings: Support the preparation for WIP meetings by verifying the forecasted materials and hours, ensuring that all data is accurate for reporting purposes.
• Daily Huddle Meetings: Facilitate daily planning and coordination with Foremen and Leads to align the field team on goals and priorities for the day.

Management Forms
The Superintendent is responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating the following forms:

• Labor Tracking: Tracks manloading and variances in labor hours.
• Three-Week Look Ahead:
  Plans daily activities, allocates manpower, and aligns tasks with overall project schedules.
• Progress Drawings: Updates the progress of installations, providing a clear snapshot of work completed.
• Project Trackers: Updates installation tabs to track the percentage of completion for each activity.
• Material Releases and Requests: Requests and releases materials as needed.

Documentation and Communication

• Ensure up-to-date project documentation, including drawings, RFIs, submittals, and schedules.
• Draft RFIs as needed to resolve conflicts or clarify scope/specifications (submission handled by PE, PA, or PM).
• Prepare monthly as-built updates and distribute them to the project team.
• Collaborate with the PM to validate project budgets, hours, and change orders, acting as a critical check and balance.
• Analyze the project schedule to identify changes that may impact the budget or timeline, escalating concerns as needed.

Technology Proficiency

• Utilize construction management apps, spreadsheets, and digital tools for tracking labor, materials, and schedules.
• Coordinate with BIM for the creation and maintenance of as-built documentation.
• Ensure accurate updates to project trackers and digital records.

Quality, Safety, and Accountability

• Conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets quality standards and complies with safety regulations.
• Follow SCE QA/QC procedures, including megging, torqueing, and other critical tests.
• Promote a culture of safety through training and consistent reinforcement of protocols. Emphasize adherence to QA/QC processes and the importance of maintaining complete and accurate records.
• Hold the team accountable for safety policies, work schedules, production goals, and QA/QC procedures. Ensure all test reports are properly documented and filed.
• Foster collaboration between the field team, office staff, and stakeholders to align on project goals and QA/QC compliance.

KPI's:

• Labor Productivity: Accuracy and timeliness of daily labor tracking updates; alignment of labor usage with project
  forecasts and budgets.
• Project Milestones: Achievement of weekly and monthly milestones; timely completion of tasks in the three-week
  look-ahead schedule.
• Documentation Quality: Consistency and accuracy of progress drawings and project trackers; timely submission of
  material requests and releases.
• Safety Compliance: Number of safety incidents or violations; frequency and quality of safety reviews during daily
  huddles.
• Communication and Coordination: Effectiveness of daily huddles in resolving issues and aligning team efforts;
  responsiveness to project scope changes.
• Resource Management: Efficient material usage; timely removal of unused materials; optimization of resources
  throughout the project.
• QA/QC Compliance & Documentation: Quality of testing execution (e.g., megging, torqueing); accuracy and
  timeliness of documentation.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar role in the commercial electrical or construction
  industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, electrical systems, and safety regulations.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical documents.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various project sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Journeyman License Card holder
• NFPA 70e Certification
• Experience with Integration of Electrical Systems
• Experience using Bluebeam and PlanGrid
• QA/QC Experience
• Bilingual (Spanish preferred)

Physical Requirements:

• Mobility: Frequent movement around construction sites, including climbing ladders and navigating uneven terrain.
• Standing/Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking to complete tasks.
• Manual Dexterity: Regular use of tools and equipment for installations and coordination activities.
• Visual Acuity: Ability to read plans, identify issues, and assess quality of work.
• Lifting: Ability to lift and carry materials and tools weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Weather Exposure: Ability to work in various weather conditions typical of construction sites in Florida.
