Litigation Paralegal

Kidd Laflin Kilburg provides legal defense services to employers, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, PEOs, staffing companies, government entities, and other businesses. Its work includes defense of workers’ compensation claims, subrogation issues, UIM matters, and a wide range of tort litigation. The firm handles cases involving automobile liability, general liability, product liability, construction defects, and trucking and transportation matters. Role Description The Litigation Paralegal is a full-time, on-site role based in Omaha, NE. This position supports attorneys in all stages of insurance defense and tort litigation, including workers’ compensation and general liability matters. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and organizing legal documents, coordinating discovery, managing case files, and maintaining accurate case calendars and deadlines. The Litigation Paralegal conducts legal research, drafts and formats pleadings and motions, and assists with trial preparation, including exhibit lists, witness files, and hearing materials. The role also involves communicating with clients, courts, and opposing counsel, gathering and summarizing records, and helping ensure that cases progress efficiently and in compliance with firm and court procedures. Qualifications Ability to perform legal document preparation and thorough document review for litigation matters. Proficiency in legal research, including case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to insurance defense and tort claims. Experience drafting and managing pleadings, motions, and related court filings. Strong organizational and case management skills, including file maintenance, calendaring, and deadline tracking. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with attention to clarity, accuracy, and professional tone. Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and staff, and to interact professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel. High level of discretion and adherence to confidentiality and ethical standards. Proficiency with legal practice management and document management software, and strong general computer skills. Preferred: Paralegal certificate or degree, and prior experience as a litigation paralegal or legal assistant in defense-oriented practice.
