The Electromechanical Assembler III builds and assembles complex electrical power distribution equipment, including switchboards, switchgear, and transformers. This role focuses on electrical assembly with significant mechanical work, using hand and power tools to mount heavy components, install sheet metal, and assemble busbar systems according to specifications and prints. The position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work safely and collaboratively in a dynamic production environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical assembly of switchboards, switchgear, and heavy power distribution equipment according to specifications and work instructions.
• Assemble and build transformers and related electrical components as part of complete power distribution systems.
• Stack metal and prepare structural and enclosure components for assembly.
• Measure and mark materials accurately using a tape measure to ensure precise cuts, placements, and alignments.
• Mount heavy components such as breakers, transformers, busway, and contactors securely and safely.
• Install sheet metal panels, doors, and related enclosure components, ensuring proper fit and finish.
• Prepare, punch, align, and bolt copper and aluminum busbar, ensuring correct spacing, orientation, and secure connections.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to perform assembly, fastening, and adjustment tasks.
• Interpret and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams, and prints when available to guide assembly work.
• Collaborate with team members to resolve assembly issues and support continuous workflow on the production line.
• Demonstrate initiative by identifying potential problems, suggesting improvements, and taking ownership of assigned tasks.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company safety practices.
• Adapt to working in different areas of the facility, including both indoor and outdoor or non-climate-controlled spaces as needed.
• Stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and productivity standards.

Essential Skills

• Electrical assembly experience with a focus on power distribution equipment.
• At least 2+ years of experience specifically assembling switchboards, switchgear, or heavy power distribution equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with both electrical and mechanical components.
• Proficiency with hand tools for assembly, fastening, and adjustment tasks.
• Experience using power tools safely in a production or assembly environment.
• Ability to accurately measure using a tape measure and apply measurements to cutting, drilling, and assembly work.
• Capability to mount and handle heavy components such as breakers, transformers, busway, and contactors.
• Ability to install sheet metal panels, doors, and related components with attention to alignment and fit.
• Physical ability to stand for up to 12-hour days and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and willingness to take ownership of tasks and support overall production goals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics is a strong plus.
• Ability to read and interpret prints and blueprints is a strong plus.
• Wiring experience and familiarity with electrical layouts are considered a bonus.
• Forklift experience is a bonus but not required.
• Experience working with copper and aluminum busbar, including punching, aligning, and bolting, is beneficial.
• Prior experience in environments involving switchboard, switchgear, or power distribution manufacturing is advantageous.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large warehouse facility that includes both non-climate-controlled and climate-controlled areas, with climate-controlled break rooms available. Team members must be comfortable working in varying temperatures and open to both indoor and outdoor or semi-outdoor environments. Standard hours are approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a typical workweek of 40–50 hours and the possibility of 12-hour shifts depending on production needs. The environment is described as very diverse and team-oriented. Steel-toe footwear is required, and employees should not bring their own tools, as tools are provided on-site. The work involves standing for extended periods, handling heavy components, and using hand and power tools within a structured, safety-focused production setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77041.

The pay range for this position is $27.28 - $32.94/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
