This is a contract job opportunity with potential for perm. Location: Asheboro, NC. Schedule: 8am-12pm M-F. Projected duration: 3 months + potential for perm.

Overview: The primary responsibility of a phlebotomist is to support in carrying out various designated tasks, resolving issues, providing training, and suggesting improvements in work processes.

Job Duties:

• Experience performing blood extractions, tagging samples, spinning specimens, documenting maintenance details and decontamination, revising patient data, etc.
• Gathers and preserves samples following established procedures. Clearly explains the venipuncture process or other sample collection processes in a polite manner as needed.
• Demonstrates techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Thoroughly understands all physician instructions. Matches lab requisition forms with specimen tubes. Labels, spins, splits, and freezes samples as per testing orders.
• Verifies all test requisitions against script for accuracy.
• Prepares specimens for transportation.
• Stores samples at correct temperature, places them in suitable collection containers, labels them accurately, follows specific protocols for transportation and adheres to OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attends annual departmental trainings.
• Answers phone calls, reads lab results to address queries.

Minimum Requirements:

• Valid Phlebotomy certification as required by state regulations
• At least 6 months of experience conducting venipunctures in a busy lab or hospital environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year of experience
