The facility requires locum coverage to provide call relief for neurosurgical services while maintaining comprehensive patient care capabilities. The institution offers on-site CME support to ensure clinicians meet stroke-specific continuing education requirements of 6 hours over a rolling 2-year period. The facility maintains established protocols for managing complex neurological cases across inpatient, operating room, and emergency department settings.

This area features prominent cultural attractions including the Art Institute, Field Museum, and multiple observation decks offering city views from high-rise buildings. The downtown district encompasses Grant Park and extends to the lakefront entertainment complex at Navy Pier, providing visitors with museums, shopping, and recreational spaces. The region serves as a major cultural and tourism hub in Northern Illinois with numerous attractions concentrated within walking distance of each other.

The neurosurgeon will provide comprehensive neurological surgery services with 24-hour call coverage responsibilities managing inpatient, operating room, and emergency department cases. The position requires managing general neurosurgical cases including cranial and spinal trauma, intracranial hemorrhage, external ventricular drain placement, hydrocephalus treatment, craniotomy procedures for hematoma or tumor evacuation, and various spinal interventions. The clinician must maintain board certification in neurological surgery and complete 6 hours of stroke-specific CME over a rolling 2-year period, with facility support available for CME completion if needed.
