CitiDirect serves as the unified digital gateway for clients to access our full suite of services.We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Backend Developer to join a group modernizing CitiDirect’s Payment architecture. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Core Java and extensive experience with Spring Framework, microservices architecture, Apache Kafka, MongoDB, and Oracle databases.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance Java-based backend servicesArchitect and implement microservices using Spring Framework 6, Spring Boot 3 and Spring CloudDesign and implement event-driven architectures using Apache KafkaWork with MongoDB and Oracle - design schemas and optimize queriesImplement and maintain comprehensive unit and integration testsParticipate in code reviews and mentor junior developersContribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and best practicesRequired Qualifications:7+ years of experience in Java development, with a strong command of Core Java conceptsExtensive experience with Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Spring CloudProven track record of designing and implementing microservices architectureExperienced in Reactive programmingProficiency in working with Apache Kafka, including designing and implementing event-driven systemsStrong experience with MongoDB, including schema design, complex queries, and performance optimization for large-scale applicationsSolid understanding of NoSQL database concepts and best practicesExperience with Oracle databases and SQL, and performance optimizationExpertise in RESTful API design principlesProficiency in writing unit and integration tests using frameworks like JUnit and MockitoIn-depth knowledge of application security principles and experience implementing secure coding practicesExpertise in implementing authentication and authorization in microservices architecture (OAuth 2.0, JWT etc.)Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesUnderstanding of Agile methodologiesSolid understanding of payments industry, including various payment systems and processesFamiliarity with ISO 20022 standards, and their application in payments messagingContributions to open-source projects------------------------------------------------------Job Family Group: Technology------------------------------------------------------Job Family:Applications Development------------------------------------------------------Time Type:Full time------------------------------------------------------Primary Location:Jersey City New Jersey United States------------------------------------------------------Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:$142 320,00 - $213 480,00In addition to salary, Citi’s offerings may also include, for eligible employees, discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
