Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent (Commercial) to oversee and manage commercial construction projects from inception through completion.

The primary project is an 87-unit, four-story wood-framed apartment building , so strong multifamily construction experience is required . The ideal candidate will have a proven background managing multifamily or similar large-scale commercial construction projects, along with strong leadership skills and extensive on-site construction experience.

This position will be responsible for coordinating subcontractors, vendors, project managers, and field crews while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all on-site construction activities for commercial and multifamily projects.
• Ensure construction activities follow project plans, specifications, schedules, and safety requirements.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project and/or other construction management software.
• Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and other project stakeholders.
• Review blueprints, architectural drawings, schematics, specifications, and other construction documents.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, materials, and overall construction progress.
• Oversee quality control procedures and ensure work meets project specifications and industry standards.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and enforce job-site safety procedures.
• Supervise subcontractors and field crews, providing direction on work methods, productivity, quality, and safety.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and identify potential issues.
• Coordinate inspections, resolve field issues, and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Assist with contracts, change orders, procurement, and project documentation.
• Track project milestones and communicate project status, challenges, and schedule changes to project leadership.
• Maintain clear communication among project managers, subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure construction activities remain aligned with established schedules and project requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar construction leadership role.
• Strong multifamily construction experience is required.
• Experience overseeing apartment, multifamily, residential, or similar large-scale commercial construction projects .
• Experience managing projects involving wood-frame construction is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction processes and field operations.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents .
• Experience with project scheduling, construction estimating, cost control, and quality control .
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements .
• Proven ability to supervise subcontractors, field crews, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
• Experience with contracts, change orders, procurement, and project documentation.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain project progress in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Project and/or other construction management software is preferred.
• OSHA or other relevant construction safety certifications are preferred.

Work Environment

This is an in-person, field-based position in Rochester, NY . The Superintendent will spend significant time on active construction sites and will be responsible for coordinating directly with subcontractors, crews, project management, vendors, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
