Accounting Manager - Pittsfield, MAThe Accounting Manager is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.Duties and ResponsibilitiesGuides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and proceduresCompletes full cycle month end close activities and reportingMaintains accurate account reconciliationsDrives profitability improvements through product costing, variance analysis, continuous improvements, etc.Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controlsPrepare monthly and annual financial reports for senior management staff, additional special reports as requiredAssist in preparing monthly and annual sales forecast through collaboration with site and division leadersActively engages as part of the site leadership team, fostering business partner relationshipsNotify senior management in a timely manner any unforeseen financial situation that may develop relative to the company status or positionMonitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditorsPrepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plansAchieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actionsProvides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial dataPrepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trendsComplies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actionsMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societiesProtects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidentialContributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededApproves finances to be used in specific projectsCorresponds with the senior management regarding any financial decisions that are madeAssists shared services to ensure all Accounts Receivable are collected promptly, and Accounts Payable are paid in a timely mannerEnsures that intercompany cash reconciliations are completedMaintains the chart of accounts and an orderly accounting filing systemMaintains a system of controls over accounting transactionsOther duties as assignedSkills / QualificationsBachelor's degree in Financial Accounting and ManagementMinimum 5 years of senior accounting experience in a manufacturing environmentCPA license or experience in public accounting is desirableThorough understanding of the accounting principlesAbility to read, analyze and interpret production reports, financial reports and technical information documentsAbility to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business communityAbility to write and professionally present presentations to large and small audiencesAbility to effectively present information in a clear and concise manner to top management or personnel groupsPossess strong computer, mathematical, reading, writing skillsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusionsAbility to interpret an extensive variety of financial information, electronic data, informational data in an efficient manner
