Lead Engineer, Legacy Software Baseline

Role Description

The Air Force C2SET (Command and Control Simulation, Emulation, and Training) program delivers advanced constructive M&S capabilities to support realistic operational training, scenario analysis, and decision support for Air Operations Centers (AOC) and Joint/Coalition warfighters. The effort involves enhancement, fielding, and sustainment of complex software suites across cloud, containerized, and secure environments worldwide, directly supporting the training and readiness of U.S. and coalition commanders.

• Lead sustainment, enhancement, and operational integration for C2SET/AFMSTT legacy models, systems, and software artifacts.
• Maintain, update, and transition legacy simulation, training, and stimulation systems, delivering critical changes, user priorities, and urgent fixes as needed.
• Ensure continuity of legacy development and support, including transition handoff/support to modernization teams and documentation (GitLab, CR/DR, fielding, federation, etc.).
• Architect and guide legacy ASCCE and Federation integration support for interconnected M&S environments.
• Ensure legacy operational sustainment of all operational training, simulation, and stimulation artifacts.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience developing and sustaining C2SET/AFMSTT or similar military M&S systems, including models, systems, and interfaces.
• Experience with cloud-based services and/or RESTful architectures, as well as at least 2 years of military mission planning/operations and simulation training with AOCs.
• Extensive experience coordinating urgent software changes, integrations, and support for legacy architectures.
• Familiarity with transition engineering, artifact migration, and legacy documentation practices.
