Senior Manager, Executive Recruiting – Tech Capital One’s Executive Recruiting team is a premier in‑house search team. We partner directly with our senior enterprise leadership to identify, cultivate, and land transformative executive talent globally across Capital One. As a Senior Manager of Executive Recruiting for Tech, you are a strategic partner and full‑lifecycle advisor to our technology business leaders. You won’t just fill roles; you will architect holistic executive hiring strategies across highly competitive technical landscapes. This is a prominent, individual contributor role designed for a sophisticated, executive‑level recruiter who blends deep market intuition and data‑driven storytelling with the ability to lead complex, high‑stakes searches from inception to onboarding. The Role A successful senior manager recruiter on the executive tech team is a trusted talent advisor and strategic influencer. You will lead all aspects of the tech executive search lifecycle (VP to EVP), leveraging deep marketplace intelligence to design and deliver holistic executive hiring strategies. In this highly visible role, you will act as the bridge between our specialized Research team and our most senior business leaders—partnering cross‑functionally with HRBPs, Compensation, and Chiefs of Staff to deliver a world‑class candidate and client experience. The Ideal Candidate Trusted Executive Advisor: You operate as a true consultative partner to our VP‑to‑EVP leaders, not an order‑taker. You possess the executive presence, business acumen, and consultative confidence to challenge assumptions, guide stakeholder expectations, and use market realities to steer leaders toward the talent they need to achieve their business imperatives. Strategic Research & Intelligence Partner: You recognize that executive recruiting is a team sport. You partner deeply and seamlessly with our dedicated Executive Research & Market Intelligence team, translating their rigorous talent mappings, competitor org designs, and data landscapes into high‑impact recruiting strategies and successful candidate engagements. Tech Market Storyteller: You bring an intuitive understanding of the highly competitive technology talent market. You are adept at taking complex market insights and transforming them into clear, compelling narratives that influence the talent path forward at Capital One and shape executive business decisions. Cross‑Functional Team Player: You know that landing top talent requires alignment at every step. You naturally build tight, collaborative partnerships with HR Business Partners (HRBPs), Compensation partners, Chiefs of Staff (CoS), and Legal. By keeping everyone aligned, you ensure a seamless experience from the first candidate interview through complex offer negotiations and onboarding. Growth Mindset & Influence Architect: You thrive in a high‑impact, collaborative environment where fast evolution is expected. You bring a positive, solution‑oriented attitude to the table, comfortable using data and storytelling to ask hard questions, push into uncharted talent territories, and quantify risk versus reward for senior stakeholders. Empowered Collaborator & Mentor: You thrive in a win‑as‑a‑team environment. You actively coach and mentor teammates across the broader matrixed organization while celebrating collective wins. Key Responsibilities Full‑Lifecycle Executive Search Ownership: Lead all aspects of the tech executive search lifecycle (VP through EVP), from initial strategy kickoff through sourcing strategy, candidate cultivation, client management, complex offer negotiations, and onboarding. Strategic Client Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, using market realities and technical talent trends to guide hiring strategies, manage client expectations, and influence leaders toward the specific talent capabilities Capital One needs to solve complex technology challenges. Research & Market Intelligence Partnership: Partner closely and strategically with our dedicated Executive Research & Market Intelligence team. Translate their rigorous talent mappings, competitor organizational designs, and data landscapes into actionable, high‑impact recruiting strategies and targeted candidate engagement plans. Tech Market Storytelling: Bring deep knowledge of the external technology talent market to internal conversations. Use data and insights to build compelling narratives that educate stakeholders, influence interview teams, and help shape the hiring path forward at Capital One. Cross‑Functional Alignment & Negotiation: Build tight partnerships with HR Business Partners (HRBPs), Compensation teams, Chiefs of Staff (CoS), Legal, and Risk. Manage candidate and business expectations collaboratively through complex executive offer negotiations to ensure absolute alignment and a seamless onboarding experience. Continuous Improvement & Mentorship: Contribute to the overall growth of the Executive Recruiting team. Share market insights, identify opportunities to innovate the talent acquisition process, and provide mentoring or coaching to teammates on technical industries and talent communities. What You’ll Need to be Successful Executive Presence & Influence: The ability to communicate with concise clarity, manage expectations, and effectively advise senior business leaders on the competitive tech landscape. Bias for Action & Agility: The resilience to pivot search strategies based on real‑time market feedback, balancing speed and quality without losing momentum. Strategic Intuition: A deep understanding of the difference between a good candidate and a Capital One leader, assessing fit based on core competencies and cultural alignment. Impeccable Judgment: Knowing when to push back on stakeholders, how to navigate complex matrixed teams (Compensation, Legal, Risk), and how to manage high‑stakes risk versus reward scenarios. Growth Mindset: A preference for a fast‑paced environment where change and evolution are expected, coupled with a penchant for celebrating team wins. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience. At least 5 years of recruiting or research experience at a global in‑house recruiting team, executive search firm, or a multinational organization. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience advising and influencing executive leadership. 2+ years of experience recruiting Tech or Product executive recruiting. At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. McLean, VA: $177,700 - $202,800 for Sr. Manager, Recruiting. Richmond, VA: $161,500 - $184,300 for Sr. Manager, Recruiting. This role is also eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non‑discretionary depending on the plan.
