About the Business A well-established US-based construction business specialising in concrete work, excavation and demolition services is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to take full ownership of its financial operations. The business requires someone who can work independently, manage the day-to-day bookkeeping function, and ensure all financial records remain accurate and up to date. Role Overview The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the full bookkeeping function of the business, ensuring accounts are accurate, payments are made on time, and financial information is always current. The successful candidate will work directly with the owner and collaborate with team members when required to gather financial information and reports. Key Responsibilities Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) Manage Accounts Payable (AP) Process billing and invoicing Perform bank and account reconciliations Manage incoming bills and payment schedules Maintain accurate financial records Update and manage bookkeeping systems Pull reports and financial information when required Ensure nothing falls behind or gets paid late Identify discrepancies and proactively resolve issues Tools & Systems QuickBooks (essential) Microsoft Excel (advanced level) Custom Excel spreadsheets that integrate with QuickBooks Requirements Essential Several years of hands‑on bookkeeping experience Strong experience managing AR, AP, billing and reconciliations end‑to‑end Advanced QuickBooks proficiency Strong Microsoft Excel skills Excellent organisational and time‑management skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong attention to detail Excellent communication skills Advantageous Experience working with US‑based businesses Experience working New York/Eastern Time hours Construction or trades industry experience Experience working with customised bookkeeping systems and workflows Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is: Self‑directed and highly organised Proactive and dependable Comfortable making decisions independently Detail‑oriented and analytical A strong communicator who escalates issues early Confident managing a complete bookkeeping function without constant oversight #J-18808-Ljbffr VirtuHire
