Job Overview Physical Therapist – Community Clinic at VCU Health, South Hill. This role focuses on acute care and may rotate through various clinical service areas. Compensation & Benefits $20,000 Sign-On Bonus for offers accepted by June 30, 2026. Terms and conditions apply. Standard work hours are Monday–Friday 7:30 am–4:00 pm with Saturday and holiday rotation required. Weekend and holiday schedule expectations are also applicable. Responsibilities Deliver physical therapy care to assigned patient population and record care in the hospital medical record. Consult with various patient clinics and provide instruction to PT support staff, students, personnel of other disciplines, and patients/family members. Evaluate patients and implement plan of care, including discharge planning. Order equipment and represent the department at rounds and discharge conferences. Schedule and charge patients for services. Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehabilitation Technicians, students, and volunteers (if applicable). Participate in a self‑directed team, applying knowledge to daily clinic problem solving and escalating unresolved issues to departmental management. Adapt to fluctuating daily work hours from 8 am to 7 pm based on patient population needs. Qualifications Licensed (or licensure-eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist. Valid CPR certification if required by clinic or practice area. New graduate up to 2 years of work experience as a Physical Therapist. Experience preferred: prior affiliation or work experience at a similar facility. Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy. Advanced degrees (Masters or Doctoral) from an accredited School of Physical Therapy preferred. Progression to Physical Therapist Clinician II level within two years of employment at VCUHS is expected. Physical & Mental Requirements Lift 50–100 lbs.; frequent bending, walking, climbing steps/ladder, and overhead reaching required. Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, logical thinking. Ability to work in a fast‑pace environment, handle multiple priorities, and adapt to frequent changes in a noisy setting.
