Location: Martinez, CA
Pay/Salary Range: $30 - $40 per hour DOE
Full Time, Onsite
6 month temporary role

We are actively seeking an Information Systems Programmer and Analyst to join a highly respected public sector organization that keeps vital county services running smoothly. In this role, you will support core systems by installing and maintaining software applications, administering computer systems, and helping users solve day to day technology issues that impact community safety and service delivery. You will partner closely with technical and non technical staff to evaluate business needs, recommend solutions, and participate in system enhancements and upgrades. What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Provide helpful information and guidance to staff on information systems policies, procedures, methods, and best practices.
• Assess customer and department needs, then recommend appropriate technical resources, including staff, software, and equipment.
• Monitor project tasks, track progress, and communicate status updates or issues to stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Prepare clear specifications to support system enhancements or new application development.
• Complete assigned programming, analysis, and support tasks accurately and within established timelines.
• Participate in evaluating, validating, and testing system upgrades to ensure smooth implementation and minimal disruption to users.
• Install or upgrade software applications and troubleshoot related hardware and software issues to restore service quickly.
• Review information systems services and vendor software to verify compliance with county standards and requirements.
• Present information system solutions to business problems in both written documents and verbal presentations.
• Design, implement, and help maintain management information systems or applications used by the department.
• Code or modify new and existing programs as directed, following established standards.
• Create and maintain accurate documentation of your work, including configurations, procedures, and program changes.
• Deliver user training on applicable software applications to improve adoption and effective use.

To Be Successful in This Role, You'll Bring:

• 1+ year of full time experience in software application programming or systems analysis, or equivalent is required .
• Education that includes either an Associate of Arts degree in computer science or information processing, or at least 24 semester (36 quarter) units in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field; additional qualifying experience may substitute for up to two years of education.
• Working knowledge of programming languages, operating systems, and the methods used to install, troubleshoot, and maintain software applications.
• Familiarity with the operational characteristics of computer network software packages and programming tools, or the ability to learn them quickly.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to solve abstract problems, isolate application issues, and assist with system design and development.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, communicate clearly in both spoken and written form, and maintain productive working relationships with customers and colleagues.
• A collaborative, service focused mindset with the capacity to learn new technologies, upgrade systems, and support users in a structured public sector environment.
