About the Job

Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a local nonprofit organization in Lacey, WA, to hire an experienced Accountant to support a busy finance department. This position is temporary and expected to last through December.

We are looking for a strong, mid-level accountant with hands-on experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Journal Entries. A significant part of this role will involve processing and entering bills, so strong Accounts Payable experience and exceptional attention to detail are especially important.

This is a fast-paced, team-oriented department. You will work closely with three other staff members while also being trusted to manage your responsibilities independently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and enter a high volume of bills and Accounts Payable transactions in Sage Intacct
• Assist with Accounts Receivable activities as needed
• Prepare journal entries and ensure proper and sufficient supporting documentation
• Review accounting information for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation
• Assist with account reconciliations, research discrepancies, and identify adjustments as needed
• Work with contracts and ensure related accounting information is processed accurately
• Work closely with three other team members to keep accounting processes moving efficiently
• Collaborate with and support other departments with their fiscal needs and questions
• Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a busy, fast-paced environment
• Handle sensitive financial and organizational information professionally

What You Bring:

• 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Journal Entries
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant accounting experience will be considered
• Strong Accounts Payable experience required
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices
• Nonprofit accounting experience preferred
• Experience working with or understanding contracts preferred
• Sage Intacct experience is a plus, but not required
• Experience with the Department of Commerce SAW/CMS system is a plus, but not required
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities
• Comfortable with direct communication and asking questions when information is unclear
• Strong organization and ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment
• Positive, respectful, and professional demeanor
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Team-oriented approach and ability to work closely with other accounting staff
• Ability to work 100% in office in Lacey, WA
