Step into a rewarding contract opportunity serving K-5th grade students as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic elementary school environment near Dearborn Heights, MI. This position is perfect for educators passionate about making a meaningful impact on young learners and driven to support diverse educational needs. Two separate roles are available—one in a self-contained classroom and another in a resource classroom, both offering a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in special education or a closely related field
- Valid Michigan elementary special education teaching license
- Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably in special education settings
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Commitment to individualized and inclusive education
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver personalized instruction for a manageable caseload of K-5th grade students
- Create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in partnership with faculty and families
- Foster a positive, structured classroom tailored to the needs of each student
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to support a range of learning abilities and disabilities
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, general education teachers, and support staff
- Engage in professional development to stay current with best practices in special education
