Shipper/Receiver I

Position Type: Temporary
Shift: 2nd Shift, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM – Monday-Friday
Pay Rate: $19.80 per hour
Location : Mechanicsburg, PA

Position Summary
Kelly Services is seeking a temporary, reliable, and detail-oriented Shipper/Receiver I to support distribution center operations. This position focuses primarily on packing , while also assisting with receiving, put-away, picking, shipping, material handling, paperwork, and inventory recordkeeping.
Packing experience, computer proficiency, and the ability to read and write English are required. Forklift experience is not required, but SAP and manufacturing experience are considered a plus.

Responsibilities

Receiving and Put-Away

• Load and unload incoming shipments.
• Review bills of lading, packing lists, and other receiving documents.
• Check incoming products against documentation for accuracy.
• Sort and prepare products for storage.
• Receive materials into the computer system using barcode scanners or computers.
• Place products in the correct storage areas or zones.
• Break down and organize floor-loaded containers.
• Operate pallet jacks, order pickers, barcode scanners, and other material-handling equipment as trained.

Picking

• Pick products for customer orders, manufacturing orders, and sample requests.
• Use barcode scanners, pick tickets, shipping papers, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
• Perform bin location audits, carton transfers, and unit-load transfers.
• Weigh or manually count products to fulfill orders accurately.

Packing

• Review computer-based packing instructions and ship sets.
• Pack products according to customer and company requirements.
• Perform special packaging when needed.
• Print and apply shipping labels.
• Follow applicable packaging specifications.
• Identify hazardous or flammable materials and prepare shipments according to established procedures.

Shipping

• Prepare cartons and pallets for shipment.
• Attach required shipping and carrier documentation.
• Secure palletized shipments using stretch wrap or banding.
• Prepare manifests and bills of lading.
• Verify carton counts against shipment records.
• Coordinate carrier pickups as needed.
• Move cartons to and from pallets, carts, and conveyors using manual or electric pallet jacks.

Requirements

• Previous packing or warehouse experience required.
• Basic computer proficiency required.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to follow written procedures and safety guidelines.
• SAP experience preferred but not required.
• Manufacturing or distribution center experience preferred.
• Forklift experience is not required.

Physical Requirements

• Lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Occasionally lift materials weighing 51–75 pounds with mechanical assistance or team lifting.
• Perform repetitive lifting and material-handling activities during 8–12-hour shifts.
• Stand and walk on concrete floors for approximately 6–10 hours.
• Climb stairs and ladders to access elevated storage areas.
• Work at heights of up to 30 feet using approved mechanical equipment.
• Maintain balance while operating elevated material-handling equipment.
• Grip and manipulate objects of different sizes, weights, and shapes.
• Use proper lifting techniques and follow all workplace safety procedures.
• Wear required personal protective equipment.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced distribution center environment.
• Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, and material movement.
• Must follow company quality, environmental, health, and safety policies.
• Responsible for completing all tasks accurately and on time while supporting customer satisfaction.
