Japanese Audio Transcription Auditor

Role Overview

Audit Japanese-language AI training data by carefully comparing speech recordings with transcripts and word-level audio segments. This role supports two Amazon Sonic audit collections and emphasizes accurate, well-reasoned quality decisions rather than high-volume output.

Key Responsibilities

• Review multilingual transcription tasks by listening to human or agent speech, comparing it with an annotator''s transcript, applying the required error codes, issuing a pass or fail decision, and providing a concise written rationale.
• Audit forced-alignment tasks by confirming that word-level segment timestamps match the actual beginning and end of each spoken word and that the reference transcription reflects the spoken form.
• Correct inaccurate alignment by adjusting boundaries, splitting or merging segments, adding missing segments, or removing segments that do not contain a word.
• Apply every relevant error code when issues are present, identify critical errors first, and clearly explain why a task passed or failed.
• Complete a short calibration phase before beginning production work.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese as spoken in Japan. Candidates must have been born and raised in a region where this language variety is dominant, or be fully fluent with at least five years of residence in such a region.
• Strong English reading and writing skills to follow detailed conventions and error-code guidance and produce clear audit rationales.
• Ability to apply written rubrics consistently across many judgments.
• Exceptional listening skills, including distinguishing similar sounds, identifying word boundaries in continuous speech, and separating genuine acoustic ambiguity from clear annotation errors.
• Experience in transcription, subtitling, localization, linguistic annotation, or quality assurance is strongly valued.
• Experience with AI data annotation, model evaluation, phonetics or linguistics, audio editing, or waveform tools is helpful but not required.

Work Terms

• Remote, hourly engagement.
• Each audit task is allocated 5.00 audit hours.

Compensation

• $37.50 per hour.
