German Audio Transcription Auditor for AI Training

Role Overview

Audit German-language AI training data by carefully comparing spoken audio with transcriptions and word-level timing. This role focuses on evaluating existing work, applying defined quality standards, and documenting clear reasons for each decision.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct multilingual transcription audits by listening to human or agent speech, reviewing an annotator''s transcription, applying the required error codes, determining a pass or fail outcome, and writing a concise rationale.
• Conduct forced-alignment audits by checking whether automated word-level audio segments begin and end at the correct timestamps and whether the reference transcription matches the spoken word.
• Correct alignment issues by adjusting boundaries, splitting or merging segments, adding missing segments, or removing segments that contain no word.
• Apply every relevant error code when an issue is found, identify critical errors first, and explain the pass or fail decision in clear language.
• Complete a short calibration phase before beginning production work.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native command of German as spoken in Germany. You must have been born and raised in a region where this language variety is dominant, or be fully fluent with at least five years of residence in such a region.
• Strong English reading and writing skills to understand detailed conventions and error codes and to write clear audit feedback.
• Ability to apply written rubrics consistently across a high volume of judgments.
• Excellent listening skills, including the ability to distinguish similar sounds, identify word boundaries in continuous speech, and separate genuine acoustic ambiguity from clear annotation errors.
• Experience in transcription, subtitling, localization, linguistic annotation, or quality assurance is a strong advantage.
• Prior AI data annotation or model evaluation, a phonetics or linguistics background, and experience with audio editing or waveform tools are helpful but not required.

Work Terms

• Remote, hourly engagement.
• Each audit task is designed for 5.00 audit hours.
• This is detail-focused listening and quality-review work, with a written justification required for every judgment.

Compensation

• $41.50 per hour.
