We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support a government organization in Raleigh, North Carolina through a Contract to Permanent opportunity. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys managing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and working across both payables and receivables in a hybrid environment. The role offers the chance to contribute to a stable team while supporting essential financial processes with attention to detail and sound judgment.

Responsibilities:

• Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and payment activity with accuracy and timeliness.

• Manage customer billing and incoming payments while helping maintain current and well-documented receivable balances.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure reliable financial reporting.

• Perform routine accounting support across daily transactions, month-end activities, and record maintenance.

• Use Sage Intacct and bill.com to enter, track, and verify financial data and payment workflows.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve invoice, billing, and account issues efficiently.

• Maintain organized financial documentation and ensure accounting records align with internal policies and audit needs.

• Assist with knowledge transfer and continuity of accounting operations as responsibilities shift within the finance team.

• 2-5 years of experience in accounting support, including hands-on work with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Demonstrated ability to handle billing, reconciliations, and general accounting transactions with a high level of accuracy.
• Experience using Sage Intacct, bill.com, or closely related accounting and payment platforms.
• Strong understanding of core accounting practices and financial recordkeeping.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a hybrid work environment.
• Strong communication skills and a detail-oriented approach to working with cross-functional teams.
