Experience regularly answering 911 calls and having duties comparable to an officer in the Sugar Land Police Department, including powers of arrest, in either the Patrol or Investigations Bureau. Not having performed a role in communications, detention, or courtrooms. Reserve police officer or unpaid status does not count toward the three‑year requirement. US Citizen with a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Stable employment record with no history of conduct that could affect suitability for law enforcement. Non‑smoker preferred. Pass a physical fitness test, oral interview board, polygraph test, and a thorough background investigation. Chief of Police may exercise final discretion on eligibility; this decision is final and non‑appealable.
