The Human Resources Specialist at Girl Scouts of Western Washington (GSWW) supports the employee experience through seasonal and year-round recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, training, and workforce outreach initiatives. This position partners with hiring managers and the Vice President, Human Resources to support recruitment efforts and attract mission-aligned employees. The Human Resources Specialist also develops relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, workforce development partners, and other external stakeholders to increase awareness of employment opportunities at GSWW. The Human Resources Specialist coordinates onboarding activities, develops and facilitates employee training programs, supports employee engagement and recognition initiatives, and contributes to Human Resources projects that foster a positive, inclusive, and values-driven workplace culture. Through strong relationship-building, communication, presentation, and customer service skills, this position helps create positive experiences for applicants and employees throughout the employee lifecycle.
This is a regular, full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt role that requires residency in Washington State, with preference for those residing in our Council Region of Western Washington. Work may be conducted remotely, but successful candidates must be willing and able to travel throughout the Council Region and work from GSWW offices, community locations, and other worksites as needed or requested. The starting pay range for this position is $27.69 to $31.16 per hour.

Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Recruitment and Workforce Outreach
- Coordinates and executes seasonal and high-volume camp recruitment activities, including outreach, sourcing, candidate engagement, hiring events, and onboarding support.
- Supports year-round recruitment activities, including job postings, applicant communication, candidate screening, interview coordination, and other hiring-related processes.
- Participates in interviews and partners with hiring managers throughout the selection process to provide Human Resources guidance, reinforce consistent and equitable hiring practices, and support a positive candidate experience.
- Develops and maintains relationships with community organizations, workforce development agencies, educational institutions, professional associations, and other external partners to increase awareness of employment opportunities at GSWW.
- Represents GSWW at career fairs, hiring events, networking opportunities, and community outreach activities.
- Supports recruitment marketing, outreach initiatives, and employment branding to promote GSWW as an employer of choice.
Employee Onboarding and Retention
- Coordinates onboarding activities to ensure new employees have the information, resources, and support needed for a successful transition into GSWW.
- Facilitates new hire orientation and onboarding sessions.
- Maintains onboarding materials, resources, and documentation.
- Partners with supervisors and cross-functional teams to support a positive onboarding experience.
- Assists with employee retention initiatives and programs designed to support employee engagement and satisfaction.
- Supports offboarding processes, including exit interviews, surveys, and related administrative activities.
Employee Training and Development
- Develops and contributes to training materials, presentations, job aids, and other learning resources related to Human Resources programs, policies, procedures, and organizational initiatives.
- Facilitates training programs, orientations, workshops, and presentations for employees, supervisors, volunteers, and other stakeholders as assigned.
- Supports implementation and administration of employee learning and development initiatives.
- Tracks training participation and maintains related records as appropriate.
- Assists in identifying training needs and opportunities to improve employee knowledge, engagement, and effectiveness.
Employee Engagement and Culture
- Supports employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and workplace culture initiatives.
- Assists with planning and coordinating employee events, activities, and programs.
- Supports employee feedback efforts, surveys, and engagement assessments.
- Partners with departments across the organization to promote employee engagement and organizational culture initiatives.
- Contributes to initiatives that support GSWW's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, racial justice, and belonging.
Human Resources Operations
- Utilizes HRIS and other technology platforms to support Human Resources operations and reporting.
- Maintains accurate and confidential records and data related to assigned responsibilities.
- Responds to routine employee and applicant inquiries and provides excellent customer service.
- Assists with Human Resources projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound judgment in handling sensitive information.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and Experience Required
- Three years of progressively responsible professional experience in human resources, recruiting, workforce development, employee engagement, training, or a related field.
- Associate degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; or completion of a recognized Human Resources certificate program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting full-cycle recruitment and hiring processes, including candidate outreach, screening, interviewing, and candidate communication.
- Experience coordinating employee onboarding and supporting employee engagement initiatives.
- Experience using HRIS, applicant tracking systems, CRM platforms, or similar technology systems to support recruitment and other business processes.
- Experience facilitating training, orientations, presentations, workshops, or group learning activities.
- Experience coordinating programs, projects, events, or initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experience building collaborative relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including employees, supervisors, cross-functional teams, and community partners.
- Experience representing an organization through community outreach, recruitment activities, partnership development, public presentations, or similar external-facing activities.
Experience and Education Preferred
- Professional Human Resources certification, such as PHR or SHRM-CP.
- Experience supporting seasonal, high-volume, or geographically dispersed recruitment and hiring processes.
- Experience using Paylocity, Salesforce, SharePoint, or a combination of these systems.
- Knowledge of Girl Scouts and experience working with youth-serving, volunteer-driven, or nonprofit organizations.
Other Qualifications
- Must reside within Washington State, with strong preference for residence within our Council region of Western Washington.
- Access to reliable transportation and the ability to fulfill travel requirements across widespread regional geography as necessary.
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
- Satisfactory results from criminal background check.
- Willingness to maintain Girl Scout membership.
- Must be willing and able to come into a Girl Scouts of Western Washington office or alternative work location as needed or when requested.
