Job Overview: The Head Wrestling Coach reports directly to the Athletic Director and oversees all levels of the wrestling program, including varsity, JV, and girls teams. The position is responsible for supervising coaches, developing schedules, implementing training, ensuring safety, and adhering to OSAA procedures. Responsibilities: Oversee and develop the wrestling program, including assistant coaches and junior‑varsity and C‑level teams. Coordinate scheduling of tryouts, practices, game plans, and summer activities with the Athletic Director. Create and implement workouts, drills, and effective practices. Develop an offseason/summer program that fosters player and team improvement. Ensure safety and security of the team before, during, and after events and travel. Qualifications: Supportive of the mission and goals of the David Douglas Athletic Department. Experience coaching/competing in high‑school wrestling with solid fundamentals and strategies. Proven record in a competitive wrestling tradition. Emphasis on academic excellence, sportsmanship, and character development. Willingness to maintain wrestling rooms and facilities. Effective communication with athletes, parents, coaches, and administration. Ability to create and implement effective practices, drills, and workouts. Ability to manage effective game strategy and implementation. Must complete OSAA and DDSD coaching certifications. Follow OSAA and Mount Hood Conference requirements. CPR and First Aid certified or able to obtain upon hire.
