VP, Merchandising Operations & Execution (

Job Summary

This position is accountable for developing overall merchandising operation strategies designed to achieve the company sales volume, gross profit margins, and market share goals. It includes establishing and achieving long‑range goals and objectives, providing counsel and guidance to management throughout the organization on merchandising matters, and ensuring the effective integration of merchandising efforts between clubs. Reports to: Chief Merchant.

Key Responsibilities

• Market Segmentation Strategy – Lead the in‑club strategy for high‑value space, segmentation, and localization.
• Vendor Engagement – Evolve the performance management and planning discipline of the Merchant organization in partnership with suppliers, manage and improve joint planning processes and deployment of vendor investment across key growth drivers, including in‑club demo programs.
• Assortment and Space Planning – Lead the strategy for assortment management and space productivity across the organization, improving merchandising productivity of space to reduce labor expense, improve sales, margin, and inventory productivity.
• Work cross‑functionally to bring merchandising visions to life through improved club layouts and formats.
• Merchant Systems and Process – Lead, evaluate and recommend changes to improve merchandising processes and procedures across key initiatives.
• Reporting and Analytics – Access and aggregate data across channels and functions (customer, promotional, product, cost‑to‑serve) to provide better insights to merchants.
• Supervisory responsibilities – Lead and direct the work of other team members and perform personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination.
• Collaborate with executive management to align departmental strategy with overall goals.
• Develop policies, practices, and procedures that significantly impact the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 12‑15 years of experience in merchandising, retail operations, or related field.
• Experience leading large teams and managing vendor relationships.
• Strong analytical and data‑driven decision‑making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with merchandising systems and process improvement.

Compensation

Pay range: $260,000.00 – $305,000.00.

Work Schedule

This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in‑office days at BJ’s Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA; Monday and Friday are remote days.
