POSITION SUMMARY

The Regional Nurse Consultant builds and leads delivery of supporting services for our care management, utilization management, clinical quality, and population health teams. This position is responsible for unifying, further developing, and expanding the facility’s clinical team to deliver a streamlined, effective, and client-centered approach to service. This position is responsible, as part of the regional facility leadership and care teams, for the overall patient care management process. This position provides oversight, guidance and support for the processes related to the development, implementation and outcomes of patient care plans as developed through clinician assessment. This position serves as a resource, positive role model, and mentor for the Director of Nursing and other nursing staff. The Regional Nurse Consultant oversees multiple areas, such as training, quality, and clinical regulatory compliance. The Regional Nurse Consultant is responsible for supporting facility staff responsible for occupational health and learning program development and project management pertaining to OSHA regulatory standards, Workers Compensation, Employee Health and Safety, Infection Control, Emergency Preparedness, and Staff Development.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Ensures Clinical Teams are Operating within Regulatory Requirements and Industry Best Practices Via Quality Assurance, Clinical Regulatory Oversight and Training. Provides clinical and system training to new employees as well as refresher training to current employees. Fills in for vacant Director of Nursing and Nurse Manager Positions, as necessary. Assists with strategy and process development and implementation, including measurement of outcomes. Acts as super-user and trainer for clinical software system, and other systems. Monitors and works closely with the DON and Nurse Managers on the status of the quality measures and takes the appropriate inventions when indicated. Participates in interviewing and selection of Director of Nursing and Nurse Manager Candidates. Assists in training of new Directors of Nursing and Nurse Managers. Conduct periodic meetings with the facility clinical teams. Collaborate regularly with leadership to share findings and coordinate and drive improvement efforts. Identification, tracking, resolving, responding to and reporting any quality-of-care issues. Consistently Identifies Opportunities to Streamline Work, Improve Processes, and Improve Consistency Across Clinical Teams. Ensures clinical processes and teams operate seamlessly with other departments. Attend and actively participate in facility IDT meetings, clinical operations, and other operational meetings as required. Develops or revises infection control policies in compliance with regulatory guidelines as well as emergency preparedness policies and procedures. Incorporates current evidence-based research into policy development. Assures policy compliance with all regulatory agencies. Facilitates grant opportunities for equipment purchases as needed. Works with facility staff to assure feasibility and compliance with policy and initiatives. Revises existing emergency preparedness/response plans to follow state and federal requirements. Works with internal partners to validate and exercise the feasibility of such plans. Represents Monarch Healthcare Management with Academic and Other Organizations in the Community. Represents the Monarch community emergency preparedness meetings. Represents Monarch on nursing advisory boards with local colleges and universities. Facilitates clinical experiences with local college and universities and assures current and valid contracts with each requiring college/university.

FACILITY COMPLIANCE

Attends continuing education/in-services pertinent to your department and designated by the VP of Clinical Services. Attends educational programs on Continuous Quality Improvement, customer satisfaction and other such programs. Participates in inspections and audits as designated. QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience At least 2 years’ experience as a Director of Nursing in a skilled Nursing Facility in Minnesota. Progressive leadership experience in a health care environment; managing and developing a team, overseeing multiple functions and providing strategic and tactical direction and operational oversight. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and Department of Health regulations, legislating and laws. A bachelor’s degree in nursing. Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Must qualify for employment, after criminal background study per guidelines of Minnesota Department of HS. Preferred Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community.
