Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Clinic Registered Nurse role based in the Lincoln, Nebraska Metropolitan Area. The Clinic RN provides direct patient care in an outpatient general surgery setting, including rooming patients, obtaining medical histories and vital signs, preparing patients for procedures, and assisting with minor in-office procedures as directed by surgeons. Daily responsibilities include administering medications and injections per protocol, performing wound care and dressing changes, providing pre- and post-operative education, and reinforcing discharge instructions. The RN coordinates patient flow, responds to clinical questions via phone or electronic messaging, and supports scheduling, test follow-up, and care coordination with other providers and facilities. The role includes documenting all care accurately in the electronic health record, monitoring patients for changes in condition, maintaining infection prevention and safety standards, and participating in quality improvement and staff meetings as needed. Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Nebraska (or eligibility for licensure) and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. Clinical experience in outpatient clinic, surgical, perioperative, or related acute care setting; familiarity with general surgery patient populations is a plus. Proficiency with electronic health records, documentation, and basic computer skills to support scheduling, messaging, and test result management. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical judgment skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple patients and respond to changing conditions. Excellent communication and patient education skills, with the ability to explain procedures, pre- and post-operative instructions, and care plans in clear, respectful language. Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, reliability, and collaboration with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and administrative staff. Knowledge of infection prevention, medication safety, and clinic safety protocols; experience with wound care and minor office procedures is beneficial. High level of professionalism, integrity, and respect for individuals of diverse backgrounds, with a focus on equitable and inclusive patient care.
