1st Shift Cook Details:

• Temporary position
• $ 17.00 / hour
• Full Time work available
• Weekend work required
• First Shift

Responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals for patients, residents, facility staff, and guests in accordance with approved menus, production sheets, dietary guidelines, and food safety standards. This position ensures meals are prepared accurately, safely, and on time while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. Experience one to three years of food service, institutional cooking, healthcare, long-term care, or commercial kitchen experience preferred. Knowledge of quantity food preparation and production. Understanding of therapeutic and modified diets. Ability to safely operate institutional kitchen equipment and utensils. Strong time management and organizational skills. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection control practices. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, patients, staff, and guests. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Open the kitchen as scheduled and prepare the department for daily operations.
• Comply with all facility, departmental, and regulatory policies regarding food service.
• Follow approved menus, recipes, and production sheets.
• Prepare and serve meals and beverages in accordance with established menus and quality standards.
• Accurately prepare foods for therapeutic and modified diets, consulting with the Dietitian as needed.
• Ensure all meals are completed and served according to established meal schedules.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times.
• Monitor and document food temperatures during cooking, serving, cooling, and storage.
• Keep storage areas, coolers, freezers, and supply rooms clean, organized, and properly stocked.
• Label, date, and store food items according to established procedures.
• Practice proper portion control and minimize waste and overproduction.
• Adhere to sanitation, safety, and infection prevention standards.
• Provide direction and support to food service staff during assigned shifts.
• Assist patients, residents, and guests in selecting nutritionally balanced meal options when appropriate.

1st Shift Cook Qualifications:

• Lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally
• Food prep a plus
• Cook experience
