iLEAD: Office Assistant, Summer Intensive Pre-College

Office Assistant for MICA's PreCollege Art and Design ProgramMICA's summer PreCollege Summer Intensive Program is a 2-4 week intensive college-level experience designed to help participants make the leap from thinking like a high school art student to thinking like an artist making art that reflects a new level of skill and personal vision, communicating ideas about art in daily critiques, and building a professional portfolio of work. PreCollege is designed for rising juniors and seniors. In conjunction with MICA's Mission and Vision, our program provides a welcoming environment for all, and values students of all races and ethnicities, sexual orientations and expressions, creative abilities, religious faiths, political affiliations, and socio-economic backgrounds. Office Assistants assist all logistical components of the program, serve in a supervisory role to PreCollege students, model and facilitate a healthy, welcoming community. 2026 Program Dates: Move In: June 30-July 1, 2026. Training: July 6-July 10. Program Starts: July 12. Program Ends: August 8. Final Clean-up: August 8-11.Summary of Essential FunctionsSupport all planning and logistical aspects of the PreCollege program through tasks centered on communication, organization, and general office managementAssist with the successful implementation of the PreCollege programming. The variety of tasks associated with this position involve administrative, clerical, physical, supervisory, organizational and leadership skillsEssential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAnswer phones and communicating with families and guests about various needs or concernsFile work requests with MICA Facilities Management, contact with urgent concernsCollect, organize and distribute all mail for students and staffCollect copy/print jobs at Postal & PrintOrganizing student files, maintain confidentialityAccompany and escort students to the health center, walk-in clinics, or emergency departments as necessary serving as an advocate and liaison for the student and communicating with PreCollege student guardians when such is being done.Model, implement and enforce Pre-College program policies, rules, and regulationsAssist Pro Staff with all planning and program tasks as neededAssist with all student travel, move-in, and move-out activities, including welcoming families, assisting with moving items, helping to clean rooms, and answering any questionsWork with Pro Staff to ensure a safe and positive residential experience for studentsFacilitate and encourage students to develop and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships, personal wellness, and providing support and guidance as neededModel and enforce PreCollege program policies, rules, and regulations and act as an ambassador for the programPerform other related duties as assigned especially when related to escorting or supervising students to an off campus location whether it be health care center (s), airport or train stations.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesProvide excellent customer service both internally and externallyAbility to maintain excellent and mature judgmentExcellent written, verbal and oral communication skillsKnowledge of MICA's campus, equipment, resources and inclusive community valuesAbility to handle multiple projects simultaneously with efficiency and accuracyMinimum QualificationsMust be a currently enrolled MICA Undergraduate student at time of employmentMust maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0Must be in good conduct standing with the collegeAbility to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentialityPreferred QualificationsExperience in working with youth in a formal job setting or volunteer rolePrevious experience in an office setting or with customer serviceCompensation20-40 hours per week$15 per hourHousing is provided but optional, meals provided while on shift for in-person programConditions of EmploymentCJIS Fingerprint and background checkAvailable evenings and weekendsMust be present for the duration of training and program datesFull availability for the dates above.
