Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours per day Experience: 2 years minimum License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. RN candidates must pass an exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% to continue. Candidates may not hold any full-time, part-time, or PRN positions with any associated facilities. Candidates must be available for holiday and weekend shifts as required. Description: The unit has a total of 33 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio for adults is typically 1:2 to 1:3. Common patient diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, adult sepsis, post-stent care, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. RNs are required to titrate drips and handle various titratable and set rate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation. Nurse aides are available based on census, assisting with 1:1 patient care or supporting the floor as needed. RNs will be responsible for troubleshooting respiratory equipment, including nasal cannula to vent. Shifts are scheduled from 0630 to 1830 and 1830 to 0630. Self-scheduling is available for core staff, while travelers are added in without guaranteed block scheduling. RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips. Floating to other units such as PCU or MedSurg may occur, maintaining similar patient ratios. Minimum holiday requirements include two holidays that fall within the contract timeframe. The charting system in use is EPIC. A BSN is not required for this position. The care setting is acute. Candidates should possess required certifications such as ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
