Structural Structural Engineer - Bridges and Transportation

Structural / Bridge Project Manager (Towson, MD or other locations) – 10+ years of experience in analysis and design of new and rehabilitation structures. We are seeking an experienced structural engineering professional to lead the design of highway (DOT) and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, load rating, and related structures. The role involves managing tasks and projects, mentoring staff, and collaborating with diverse project teams across state and municipal clients. Responsibilities Serve in a lead technical role on bridge or structural design projects. Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of mid-to-large multi-disciplinary projects or medium-sized bridge projects with high technical complexity. Establish client relations and participate in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings. Conduct schematic, design development and contractual document work sessions in conjunction with project managers and technical professionals. Ensure project deliverables and supporting documentation are complete, understandable, and conform to applicable standards and client requirements. Coordinate staffing and workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule. Work with Business/Accounting Manager and Discipline/Managing Director for project reviews. Implement QA/QC procedures and review bridge plans for projects. Execute training and development for personnel and mentor/supervise less experienced project managers. Maintain professional engineering registration. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution; Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. 10+ years of project and client management experience with significant project experience and client contacts. Proficiency in MS Office. Demonstrated business development and strategic planning skills. Excellent communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring skills. Ability to interact with various design teams and excellent organizational, project management and communication skills. Commitment to an employee-owned culture. Willingness to perform hands-on bridge condition inspection and comfortable with heights. Valid driver’s license in good standing. Ability and willingness to travel as required; primarily local with occasional weekly travel. Successfully complete a pre-employment background check. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, project managers, and supervisors. Desired Software Proficiency Proficiency in any of the following: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, LARSA 4D, LPile, MDX, Descus, AASHTOWare BrR, Merlin DASH, spColumn, PennDOT software packages, Bentley MicroStation and/or OpenRoads/Bridge software. Physical Requirements Majority of work is office based. Some field work may be required to navigate unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment, and may expose the employee to extreme heat, cold or inclement weather.
