Maintenance WorkerThis position is responsible to perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, and/or the various structures of the College in repair.Essential Job Functions:Perform various maintenance projects which may include electrical, heating, HVAC, carpentry, painting, masonry, floor repair, and roof repair.Maintain door and window hardware.Perform general construction.Perform equipment repairs.Initiate the ordering of parts.Initiate work orders.Responsible for preventive maintenance of all facilities equipment.Complete work orders, and return them to the appropriate location in the Facilities Department.Perform interior maintenance work when priorities warrant or when grounds maintenance must be canceled due to adverse weather conditions.Other Job Functions:Responsible for snow/ice removalSet up and break down (apparatus remove) necessary equipment for special events.Maintain a neat and orderly work environment.Maintain up-to-date professional credentials, best practices and current disciplines including continued educational requirements through certifications, seminars, training programs, etc.Maintain and develop work-related knowledge, skills, and competencies related to the job through professional and cross-training opportunities.Attend all required meetings and training.Perform additional grade-level support duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Basic knowledge of general carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC.Basic knowledge of flat roof systems.Proficient verbal and written communication skills.Read, comprehend and follow instructions/work orders.Meticulous record keeping skills.Ability to consistently provide excellent customer service.Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments, including managing multiple projects/tasks concurrently and meet varied deadlines.Respond to unpredictability.Ability to resolve defined problems/processes; and assist with higher level problem solving.Required Qualifications:Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience: Three years of general maintenance and/or construction experience required.License: Valid driver's license.Clearances: The successful candidate will be required to obtain/provide the following clearances prior to hire: PA Child History clearance, PA Criminal Record Check clearance, FBI Federal Criminal History Record clearance.Preferred Qualifications:Education: One-year post-secondary education preferred.Physical Demands:Ability to stand & walkAbility to carry, push, pull, sit, crawl & stoopAbility to repeatedly kneel, bend and balanceAbility to use both hands & both legsAbility to use legs/arms to climbRepetitive twisting or pressure involving wrists or handsReaching at high or low levelRepetitive finger movementAbility to pull hand over handAbility to climb stairsAbility to operate truck/motor vehicleAbility for rapid mental/muscular coordination simultaneouslyAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Ability to communicate orally and hear conversationUse of computer and internet/internet-based systemsReading and preparing documents, reports, presentations, etc.Use of depth perception and color visionWork inside or outsideWork in heat between 90° – 100° and work in cold below 55°Work in excessive or frequent temperature changesWork in wetnessWork with machinery with moving partsExposure to constant noise above 85dBExposure to vibrationExposure to irritant or toxic fumesExposure to dust (more than nuisance)Exposure to grease, oils, gases and chemicalsWork with ladders/scaffoldingWork at excessive heights or in confined spacesWork aloneSalary: $14.85/hourSchedule Days/Hours: Monday - 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Tuesday - 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Wednesday - 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Thursday - 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Friday - 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.Posting Number: S-2023-236-PNumber of Vacancies: 1Special Instructions to Applicants: Please be prepared to upload a required resume and provide three (3) professional, not personal references with this application process.
