We are a 3-doctor general practice and will be relocating into a new building in Spring 2027!Position Summary:This is a critical position that plays a key role in driving the performance of a veterinary hospital. Creates, drives and maintains a practice environment that facilitates the delivery of quality, compassionate, and efficient healthcare to animals. This position oversees the business and staff aspects of the practice and has responsibility for all support and operational functions, such as human resource, financial, operational, and business activities. In partnership with the Medical Director, this position communicates a vision of excellence and oversees a profitable operation.What You'll Do (Essential Functions):Foster a culture built on our values: Respect, Learning, Do the Right Thing, Wow Service, FunPartner with Medical Director to create and drive a practice environment that facilitates the delivery of quality and efficient health care to animalsLead the creation and maintenance of a collaborative, high-performing, and positive workplace cultureOrganize the health services of a hospital or healthcare facility. Serve as the point person for all day-to-day functions of the practiceAssist with all strategic business development and operational planning effortsOversee all departments that support the business side of the hospital with a focus on business financials, growth, and human resourcesResponsible for the financial performance of assigned hospital(s). Guide the creation of financial strategies and goals to achieve hospital profitability. Monitor and drive achievement of financial goals. Provide regular updates to the hospital team and inspire employee ownership of the hospital's financial performanceTrack data on assigned hospital(s) including daily revenue, average invoice amount, number of invoices, and labor costs. Prepare reports and written summaries of the hospital's performance and provides updates to key individualsCoach, manage, mentor, and train direct report staff. Provide continuous performance management, recognition, and conduct employee performance evaluations. Address performance and/or behavior issues, clarify expectations and provide feedback. Provide overall guidance to and mentor hospital teamSupport staff growth and development. Encourage staff to seek educational opportunities incorporating job related training in addition to mandatory trainingParticipate in the recruitment and selection of hospital staff. Provide orientation to outline job requirements and expectations, policies and procedures, and proper use of tools and equipmentBuild relationships with local general practices and community leaders to market the practiceWork with hospital team(s) to create marketing programs to support the business model and strategic goals. Ensure marketing procedures are implemented, followed, and tracked Assess the effectiveness of marketing programs and promotions and makes adjustments as neededManage human resources related issues. Maintain current knowledge of state, federal, and local relevant employment law and ensures legal compliancePartner and assist with the doctor and medical teams and medical support staff. Oversee and assist with doctor and staff schedulesManage facilities and equipment maintenanceMaintain current knowledge and ensures compliance with OSHA, DEA and other applicable regulatory agenciesPerform other duties and projects as requestedWhat We're Looking For (Essential Qualifications):Education :AA or Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experienceExperience:2+ years of experience in overall operations, financial and facilities management, and/or Human ResourcesThis includes two years of job-specific experience in a hospital management role within the veterinary or human health industryExperience leading a large team of individuals preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Ability:Knowledge of state, federal, and local employment and safety laws and regulationsIntermediate proficiency with a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPointLead and manage a department and employeesEffective verbal, written, and listening communication skillsPresent information in a clear, organized, and concise manner both verbally and in writingInteract with a variety of clients and employees in a professional and effective manner.Leverage interpersonal skills and technical knowledge to bring people and ideas together to perform effectivelyStrong collaboration skills with internal teams and external partnerships for the purpose of building alliances with key individuals or groupsStrong organizational skills including managing multiple priorities and deadlinesHandle and maintain sensitive and confidential information with discretionStrong critical thinking, judgement, and problem-solving skillsAdapt and remain flexible in changing situations and work environmentsProactively identify issues and formulate solutionsWorking Conditions/Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. The team member must frequently use a computer for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities are required to do this job, including close vision. This position requires walking and/or standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching, grasping, and repetitive motions. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. This is not considered a remote position.Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervisory responsibility for all of the team members at the hospital other than doctors. Works with the Medical Director to co-supervise Medical Support staff.
