Location Avera Behavioral Health Center, Sioux Falls Job Type & Shift Regular; rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays (United States of America) Pay Range $24.50 - $48.50 hourly, actual pay dependent upon experience. Position Highlights Eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $15,000. 3+ years experience nurses receive additional benefits. About the Unit The Avera Behavioral Health Adolescent & Child Units provide a structured, age‑appropriate therapeutic environment for children (5‑12) and adolescents (13‑17) to learn coping skills and set goals. Units include a 40‑bed Adolescent program and a 14‑bed Child program. Job Summary The LPN works under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice RN, licensed physician, or other health care provider. The LPN organizes and directs aspects of care, communicates and coordinates care with nursing diagnoses, and collaborates with all health team members. Responsibilities Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and communicating the nursing care plan to the health care team. Coordinate with other healthcare providers, providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families and friends. Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, and establishing diagnoses, objectives, and interventions. Teach healthcare requirements and self‑care skills to patients and families. Evaluate patient care, measure health outcomes, review records, and modify plans as needed. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment (infection control, medication administration, controlled substances, legal regulations). Document patient care services in records and keep equipment and supplies operational. Maintain competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership. Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (active upon hire). Preferred 1–3 years of clinical experience. Visual acuity adequate and effective communication skills.
