Overview Project Controller About Fairweather Fairweather is a trusted service provider in Alaska, delivering specialized solutions in remote and Arctic environments. Our mission is to support operations with safety, integrity, and excellence. We offer a dynamic and inclusive work environment, ensuring our employees are equipped with the tools and support needed for success. Why You Should Work for Us Supportive and collaborative work culture Opportunities for professional development and career growth Commitment to employee safety and well-being Retirement Plan: 401(k) up to 4% company match. Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Free counseling and support services POSITION PURPOSE The Project Controller will work closely with our small Anchorage-based office team during this period, owning the day-to-day financial tracking of the project. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who has worked in a North Slope or Arctic construction environment and understands the pace, the paperwork, and the cost structures involved. This position involves supporting a client’s exploration project in West Harrison Bay, located about 90 miles WNW of Deadhorse, AK. The project plans to drill three exploration wells from artificial ice islands in shallow nearshore waters during Winter 2026/2027. Preparations, including staging camps, drilling, and construction, will occur in summer 2026, with equipment pre‑staged on shallow draft deck barges moored in the Kogru River and at the old DEW line site there. Equipment will mainly be loaded from West Dock in Prudhoe Bay via tug and barge. Site preparation and sea lift are scheduled from early July to late September 2026. Winter operations begin in late November with crews mobilized for ice construction. Between these phases, caretakers will monitor the site and equipment during the shoulder season. LOCATION Anchorage, Alaska (office‑based) SCHEDULE Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm June – September (with potential for extension into winter season) POSITION Contracted / Temporary Position KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in setting up contract tracking systems to maintain visibility of open PO’s / Work orders, spend to date, and invoice approval workflow. Liase with client's Accounting processes through Chief Administrative Officer. Assist in coding and process contractor and vendor invoices against the correct AFE cost codes and work breakdown structure. Review invoices for completeness per contract — verify quantities, rates, and contract terms before routing for approval; flag discrepancies and follow up with contractors to resolve. Produce and distribute weekly cost reports showing actual spend versus budget by cost category, with clear variance commentary. Maintain the committed cost register, tracking all purchase orders and contracts to ensure committed but uninvoiced amounts are captured in the forecast. Manage the logistics budget line items and review freight invoices for accuracy against contracted rates. Identify and flag upcoming large invoices or milestone payments that will require a cash call, giving leadership sufficient lead time to arrange funding. Track and process change orders, ensuring approved scope changes are reflected in the budget and forecast. Liaise with contractors to obtain cost reports, progress claims, and supporting documentation in a timely manner. Provide general logistics support as needed: for example, helping to coordinate field trucks, contractor accommodation as needed. Maintain organized, audit‑ready cost files and documentation throughout the project. Prepare a clean handoff cost report and updated forecast at contract end for transition to internal management through the drilling phase. Serve as general receptionist in Anchorage office, supporting office team as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS Direct experience in a North Slope or northern Alaska project environment is required — backgrounds such as rig clerk, ice road or winter construction administrator, or camp administrator, are well suited to this role. Solid understanding of AFE structure, cost coding, and invoice processing in an oil and gas or heavy construction context. Familiarity with marine, sealift, or construction cost structures and contracts is a strong asset. Experience reviewing subcontractor invoices and progress claims for accuracy against contract terms. Comfortable producing clear, concise weekly cost reports. Strong Excel skills; experience with QuickBooks is an asset. Highly organized with strong attention to detail — accurate documentation and tidy files are a core part of this role. Able to work independently in a small team environment with limited hand‑holding; proactive in flagging issues rather than waiting to be asked. WORKING CONDITIONS This is an office‑based role in Anchorage. Standard Monday‑Friday schedule with flexibility during peak invoicing periods. No site travel is anticipated, though familiarity with remote northern operations is essential context for the work. REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION It is Fairweather's business philosophy and practice to provide reasonable accommodations, according to applicable state and federal laws, to all qualified individuals with physical or mental disabilities. PREFERENCE STATEMENT Fairweather grants preference to qualified Doyon Shareholders first, and second to qualified shareholders of other Alaska Native corporations that grant a similar preference in all phases of employment and training, which include, but are not limited to hiring, promotion, layoff, transfer, and training.
