The department is focused on delivering specialized oncology care across ambulatory and hospital settings, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to address the complex needs of patients with cancer. The shift for this position is 4/10 hour shift, alternate weekends, and holiday coverage.

Responsibilities Clinical Assessment & Patient Care

Conduct comprehensive health assessments including medical, family, and social history

Perform physical examinations and psychosocial assessments

Monitor laboratory, radiographic, and procedural data

Deliver care to oncology patients in ambulatory and hospital settings including special care units, operating room, and diagnostic and treatment centers

Care Coordination & Management

Coordinate medical care across interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, social workers, dietitians, and clergy

Triage patient needs and prioritize care appropriately

Manage symptoms, toxicities, and health abnormalities related to disease or treatment

Evaluate and modify care plans based on patient response and clinical findings

Autonomous Practice & Collaboration

Practice autonomously in accordance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act

Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure effective care delivery

Serve as a clinical resource to colleagues and allied personnel

Provide consultation regarding plan of care, follow-up, and evaluation

Patient Education & Support

Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment, and symptom management

Provide counseling focused on health promotion and disease prevention

Support patients receiving surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, biotherapy, and treatments for related conditions

Professional Development

Participate in continuing education programs

Review clinical literature related to oncology and nursing practice
